Kurt Rusoffer has actually starred in some good movies — Escape From New York, Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing — yet for me, he is at his best in Tombstone. His mustache alone need to have actually won an Osvehicle. Seriously, look at that thing!
Tombstone is among the movies I have watched over, and over, and also over (ask my wife, she’ll tell you). I love a good revenge flick, and also the second half of this movie is full of Wyatt and Doc Holliday bringing dvery own the thunder. The gunfight scene at the river wbelow Wyatt “walks on water” is significant, yet the verbal gunfights are also better. Tombstone is filled through remarkable dialogue, and I frequently find myself quoting it in my regular day to day tasks. For example:
Wyatt Earp: Alprepared gained a guilty conscience. Might as well have the money, as well.
You are watching: You gonna do something or stand there and bleed
(My individual favorite.) Wyatt Earp:
Johnny Tyler: You run your mouth awful reckless for a man that don’t go heeled.Wyatt Earp: No need to go heebrought about gain the bulge on a tub like you.
Wyatt Earp: The Cowboys are finiburned, you understand? I watch a red sash, I kill the male wearin’ it! So run, you cur… RUN! Tell all the other curs the law’s comin’!
Of course, Doc Holliday’s quotes steal the show…
Billy Clanton: Why, it’s the drunk piano player. You’re so drunk, you can’t hit nothin’. In truth, you’re most likely seeing double.
Johnny Ringo: You retired too?Doc Holliday: Not me. I’m in my prime.Johnny Ringo: Yeah, you look it.Doc Holliday: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The most dangerous pistoleer given that Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?Kate: You don’t also understand him.Doc Holliday: Yes, yet there’s just something about him. Somepoint approximately the eyes, I don’t understand, reminds me of… me. No. I’m sure of it, I hate him.Wyatt Earp:
(Thank you IMDB)
The cast of personalities in this film is near perfect with Sam Elliot, Dana DeLaney, and also Powers Boothe. Bill Paxton not so much, yet Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday is conveniently the finest cowboy character in the last 30 years. His interactivity through Michael Biehne’s Johnny Ringo character is significant (remember the twirling tin cup showdown?). Heck, they even dusted off Charlton Heston for a tiny part. They probably simply shelp, ” Chuck, wanna make a movie? You get to play through guns!” “Sure, I’ll get my hat.”
Tombstone might not be completely based upon truth, however it is a fun ride. If you desire a great read about the connection between the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday, I would highly recommfinish Doc by Mary Doria Rusmarket. And if anyone desires to deal up a hand also of faro while throwing earlier some Laudanum, I’m your huckleberry.

Didn’t Tombrock come out the very same year as Wyatt Earp? While I appreciate a Kevin Costner western, the second fifty percent of Tombstone seals if for me. That an Sam Elliott’s mustache.

My late father was a Western fan considering that he was a little boy and finding a current Western that he liked was a tough contact. The truth that he liked TOMBSTONE speaks volumes for this film (IMO). I love it as well.

I agree. I love this movie. Everyone is great in it however Val completely steals the show.
More excellent Doc quotes:
“There’s no normal life, Wyatt, it’s just life. Get on through it.”
“You know, Frederic f**king Chopin?”
“It would appear that the strain was more than he might bear.”
“Oh. Johnny, I apologize; I forobtained you were there. You may go now. “
Yep, my fav western of all time and I’ve watched ’em all. Lived in Tucson 10 years, invested most weekends in Tombstone. I think I was tright here in the 1880’s in an additional life. I hope I was !
