“Wisest person I ever met, a 3rd grade dropout, taught me to combine knowledge and wisdom to make an impact.”“He left school at the 3rd grade, but that doesn’t mean his education stopped. Mark Twain said, I never let schooling get in the way of my education.”

“I won’t have a problem if you aim High and Miss. We’ll have a real issue although if you aim low and hit.”

“If you think you are right or if you think you are wrong, you are right.”

“Be an hour early, rather than 1 minute late.”

“You are what you repeatedly do, excellence is a habit, Not an Act.”

“Make sure your servant’s towel is bigger than your ego. Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity. Pride is the burden of a foolish person.”

“If you’re going to do a job, do it right.”

“Wisdom will come in the unlikeliest of sources, a lot of times from failure. Rock bottom can be a great foundation to build and to grow. I’m not worried that you’ll be successful, I’m worried that you won’t fail and learn from time to time.”

“Just stand. Keep standing.”

“How you Livin’?”

I personally love this whole speech, I imagine some professional speakers spend their whole lives trying to deliver a talk of this magnitude. It had power behind the words, terrific flow, ear to ear smiling humor, and an emotional roller coaster drop; well done Dr. Rigsby. The quote I want to take away and remember is “You are what you repeatedly do, excellence is a habit, not an act”, which is an Aristotle original. Means a lot personally. I’m someone who needs a constant reminder there. I often start things and don’t finish them; I want one swing of a hammer to finish the job, but in fact many jobs need constant and continued swings of the hammer. EXCELLENCE IS A HABIT!
