Last week’s Season 3 finale of the FYI reality show left Tres Russell and Vanessa Nelson as the only couple choosing to stay married at the end of their six-week televised marriage experiment. But Tuesday night’s “Six Months Later” reunion special revealed that the former lovebirds are no longer together.
“Things just fell apart,” Vanessa says through tears in the episode. “We stopped being physically intimate.”
She tells show expert Dr. Pepper Schwartz that things fell apart when she and Tres got into a huge argument after he didn’t come home until 5 a.m. one night — which led to them spewing some “really mean things.”
“It was terrible. Tres tells me that he doesn’t have romantic feelings for me,” she says. “Things weren’t perfect at all, but I thought it was at least
In his own confessional, Tres admits that the pressure of being a married couple got to him.

He takes the blame for the intimacy dissolving in their relationship, saying he incorrectly thought they needed to cool things down in order to focus on building a stronger friendship.
“Intimacy just died out for us, which is definitely a mistake when you’re married,” he says. “And it definitely brought out a lot of insecurities in her, which I understand.”

“I don’t have any regrets because I got to know you and I got to know more about myself,” Vanessa tells her soon-to-be ex-husband.
Tres offers, “No matter what, I’ll always feel bonded with you.”

“There was so much more to it. We are just two very different people. We didn’t connect on any level,” Ashley says. “I couldn’t get my space. It was frustrating feeling smothered all the time.”
In a separate sit-down, Dr. Pepper presses David on him messaging another woman during his marriage, saying she doesn’t buy his “friend” excuse.
“Was I looking for some validation? Probably,” he admits. “My intention was not to cheat on my wife, especially when you have a camera crew following you 24/7.”
• Sam and Neil win the “Cutest Ex-Couple” award for their genuine post-breakup friendship and they even seem open to a possible reconciliation down the line. Even Dr. Pepper admits, “There’s some hope in me that there’s some future for these two.”
